Relaxing (or burning) in the Florida Sun

The end of yesterday brought a beautiful sunset and lots of sunburn.  We returned to the beach yesterday evening for a little more swimming and snorkeling.  When the sun sunk lower into the horizon we went to the west side of the beach and took some pictures of the setting sun.  Unfortunately we didn’t get to see it actually set into the ocean on account of some clouds rolling in and the park ranger ushering us out rudely. 

Today we drove over to the town and acted more like tourists.  We walked into all the gift shops and enjoyed our time at the end of the road (US Hwy 1).  Some of us returned to the campsite to relax and the rest stayed to shop some more.  The rest of the day is resting and a little bit of swimming in the ocean by our campsite.

Key West- Day One

Today marks our first full day in the Keys.  We got up this morning and loaded up for Snorkeling.  We had a little bit of trouble finding the place at first and by the time we found it and got parked we had missed the boat.  We decided instead to visit a beautiful beach with a nice area for snorkeling.  The rest of the morning was spent in the water watching the fish and an unusual cloud-rainbow.  The rest of the day is for rest and relaxation, much needed.

Catching up after two busy days

The last two days have been pretty busy.  Yesterday we went to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure.  Spent the whole day walking around and trying not to get too wet during the mid-day shower.  It was a busy day but a fun one.  Most everyone enjoyed the indoor 3d experiences.  Half the Troop rolled up their wizzarding sleeves and bought their very own wands. 

The next day got off to a great start with a terrifying story from Thomas Ostroski about sharks and Florida.  Then we drove for a few hours to the Everglades Holiday Park.  After eating a lunch we hopped on the airboat for a ride through the everglades to see the wildlife.  We saw an assortment of birds and a few Aligators.  When we got back we went to see a guy wrestle a ten foot aligator and then got a chance to hold a much smaller one.  After that we got back in the vans and drove the rest of the way to the Keys.  We checked in and set up our tents and left for dinner, only 9:00. 

Hopefully the current streak of rain beginning at Two in the afternoon stops over the next few days.

Wet Day Two

We drove all day today.  Then it rained….most of the day.  Set up tents while it rained too.  Hopefully tomorrow will be more interesting, and drier.
